West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Announces Details for MATRIC Symphony Sunday 2021

CHARLESTON, W.VA. (5/5/21) –The WV Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) is excited to announce additional details for MATRIC Symphony Sunday 2021: Pops at the Park, to be hosted on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Appalachian Power Park. In case of inclement weather, MATRIC Symphony Sunday will be held on Monday, June 7.

Admission to MATRIC Symphony Sunday will require a free, general admission ticket. Beginning Monday, May 3, tickets are available for pick up during lobby hours at the following City National Bank branches: Downtown, West Side, Kanawha City, South Hills, South Ridge, St. Albans, Cross Lanes, Winfield, Hurricane, Pea Ridge Branch (Huntington), Hamlin, North Lewisburg, Beckley, and Montgomery. Tickets are also available for pick up Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the WVSO’s office located at 4700 MacCorkle Avenue Suite 101, Charleston.

MATRIC Symphony Sunday will begin when gates to Appalachian Power Park open at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 6. The West Virginia Youth Symphony is set to perform at 6 p.m., with the WVSO to follow at 8 p.m. The night caps off with fireworks and a performance of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” a time-honored tradition.

Along with symphonic entertainment, MATRIC Symphony Sunday will include local artisans selling their wares, kids’ games and crafts provided by Charleston Area Medical Center and WV American Water, and concessions for sale by the WV Power.
