West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Announces Reflections to feature violinist Anne Akiko Meyers on Feb. 12

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (2/3/22) – The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) continues its Elliot Foundation Symphonic Series with Reflections on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Clay Center in Charleston.

Music Director Lawrence Loh leads the orchestra through a powerful program that begins with the WV debut of modern composer Reena Esmail’s Black Iris (#MeToo). The piece was originally composed in 2017 as a challenge to support the #MeToo movement and was recently retitled to pay homage to Georgia O’Keefe’s famous painting of the same name.

Up next on the program, guest violinist Anne Akiko Meyers takes the stage with the WVSO for a performance of Barber’s Violin Concerto. The second half showcases the full orchestra in a moving performance of the well-known Enigma Variations by Elgar.

The Elliot Foundation Symphonic Series concert on is made possible by the generous support of the Elliot Foundation and the Cecil I. Walker Charitable Trust. Tickets start at $13 and are available at wvsymphony.org, by visiting the Clay Center Box Office, or by calling 304.561.3570.
