WVSO nationally awarded $20,000 from National Endowment for the Arts

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) received an Arts Works award of $20,000 to support a statewide touring and community engagement project. 

WVSO President Joe Tackett commented, “The WVSO is proud to be receiving support from the National Endowment for the Arts. They are aware of the fine work the orchestra has done in bringing great music to all of the citizens of West Virginia. This money will go a long way in providing concerts in Elkins, Glenville, Princeton, Franklin and other stops on our statewide tour.”

WVSO's Shiva Shafii accepted to Essentials of Orchestra Management Seminar

Shiva Shafii, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s Marketing Director, is 1 of just 30 orchestra administrators selected nationwide to participate in the League of American Orchestras (LOAO) Essentials of Orchestra Management, an immersive ten-day seminar which prepares emerging orchestra managers to lead successfully in the 21st century. The LOAO describes the program as an in-depth overview of orchestra management that builds career networks, and provides an unprecedented view of what is necessary to become an innovative and successful leader in the arts.
