West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Announces “Banner, Bailey & Beethoven” stream and television broadcast

CHARLESTON, W.VA. (4/23/21) –The WV Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) presents “Banner, Bailey & Beethoven” for digital stream on May 1 and “Bailey & Beethoven” for television broadcast on May 20 on West Virginia Public Broadcasting.

 For the first time since March 2020, Music Director Lawrence Loh takes the stage at the Clay Center with orchestra members of all instrument families. “Banner, Bailey & Beethoven” will be available online beginning Saturday, May 1 at 7 p.m. The full concert will be hosted on the Symphony’s website for 30 days. The online version of this concert includes a special performance of “Banner” by up-and-coming composer, Jessie Montgomery.

Access to the stream is available for $15 for single tickets and $25 for family tickets and can be purchased through wvsymphony.org. As a thank you for their loyal support, all subscribers to the 20-21 season will receive complimentary access to the live stream. This access is available to subscribers regardless of if they have received a refund or donated tickets from cancelled concerts in the 20-21 season. Thanks to a partnership with West Virginia Public Broadcasting, “Bailey & Beethoven” will be televised statewide on Thursday, May 20 at 10:30 p.m. on all West Virginia Public Broadcasting television channels. Please note due to time constraints, the televised concert will not include a performance of Montgomery’s “Banner”.

Originally recorded in March 2021, “Bailey & Beethoven” features Zuill Bailey, cello, with the WVSO for Haydn’s Concerto in C Major for Violincello. The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 in F Major.
