West Virginia Symphony presents Sounds of the Season Dec. 1-3
/CHARLESTON, W.VA. (11/29/23) – The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) continues its ZMM Architects and Engineers Pops Series with the beloved holiday classic, Sounds of the Season on Dec. 1 – 3 in Lewisburg, Charleston, and Parkersburg.
Led by Music Director Maurice Cohn, the WVSO brings holiday joy to the stage while Santa and friends ring in the season with music, fun, and magic! Selections include favorites like “White Christmas” and pieces from The Nutcracker and The Polar Express. Also featured will be arrangements from WV composer Matt Jackfert and a can’t miss rendition of fan-beloved “Sleigh Ride”. In Charleston, the WV Symphony Chorus, Parkersburg Symphony Chorus, and singers from the University of Charleston will join the WV Symphony for a melodious second half.
“The Sounds of the Season concerts with the West Virginia Symphony are incredibly special events. Music has a unique ability to bring us together and connect our community during the holidays,” said Music Director Maurice Cohn. “We can all remember our favorite holiday songs from childhood, and it is such a joy to be making those memories for another generation of music lovers!”

Embassy Suites will once again offer reservations for a pre-concert buffet to be held on site at the Clay Center. The price of dinner is $39.95/person, plus gratuity and taxes. In addition to the Charleston performance, the WVSO will perform Sounds of the Season at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg. Tickets for the concert start at $37 and are available at carnegiehallwv.org, at the door, or by calling 304.645.7917. Support for this performance is provided by ZMM Architects & Engineers and the James F.B. Peyton Family Trust Fund.
The WV Symphony will also perform Sounds of the Season at Blennerhassett School in Parkersburg beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3. Hosted by the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra of Parkersburg, tickets for the concert start at $25 for adults and are available at wvsop.org, at the door, or by calling 888.699.8767 (MYWVSOP). Student tickets are free.
