Music Director Maurice Cohn leads the WVSO through a program featuring pieces from American composers Leonard Bernstein, Missy Mazzoli, Aaron Copland, Duke Ellington, and George Gershwin. The WVSO’s own principal clarinet Robert Turizziani highlights the evening as a featured soloist during Copland’s Clarinet Concerto.

The Elliot Foundation Symphonic Series concert is made possible by the generous support of the Elliot Foundation, Truist Wealth, and the Friends of Bob Turizziani. Concert tickets start at $14 and are available at wvsymphony.org or by calling 304.561.3570.

“The breadth and depth of American music is simply astonishing,” said WVSO Music Director Maurice Cohn. “From classical and jazz traditions to folk music and Broadway, ours is a tremendous musical heritage and this concert showcases that history. Music by Leonard Bernstein, Duke Ellington, and others take us on a grand tour of the American musical landscape. It is also a special pleasure in this concert to feature our very own principal clarinetist, Robert Turizziani, as the soloist in Aaron Copland’s Clarinet Concerto.”

The WV Symphony will also perform the American Voices at Blennerhassett School in Parkersburg beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 10.
