/Updated on 8/2/16
The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) points to a surplus according to unaudited numbers for the 15-16 season. This past season, the WVSO saw an increase in subscription sales, increase in single ticket attendance, and an increase in individual donations.
WVSO President Joe Tackett reflected upon the year stating, “Through the hard work of our board, staff, and most importantly, our musicians, the WVSO has achieved what many saw as impossible; a financially healthy, thriving arts organization with a growing audience and an engaged, forward looking vision.”
The newly elected Officers for the Board of Directors will continue to build upon the success of the past season. Elected at the Board’s annual meeting on July 25, 2016, the new officers are:
Chair: John Elliot
Vice Chair: Cindy McGhee
Secretary/Treasurer: The Honorable Jim Douglas
Development Committee: Thomas Bailey
Marketing Committee: Steve Thompson
Education Committee: Laura Lee Albert
The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra is West Virginia’s premier performing arts organization, presenting classical, pops, and chamber-music concerts annually throughout the Mountain State. Currently in its 78th season, the WVSO is a proud member of the community and enriches the region by providing affordable, high-quality concerts, collaborations with West Virginia arts organizations and a nationally award-winning education program.
