WV SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PRESENTS DOUBLE TREBLE

CHARLESTON, W.VA. (4/29/19) – The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) wraps up the 2018-19 season on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5 with performances of Double Treble in Charleston and Parkersburg.

Music Director, Lawrence Loh will lead the orchestra through a night of exciting music, with special guest features on two of the three pieces to be performed.

In Charleston, the West Virginia Youth Symphony Orchestra will once again join the WVSO to perform Shostakovich’s Festive Overture. The side-by-side has become an annual fixture in the Symphony’s line-up.

“We always look forward to the side-by-side with the Youth Symphony,” said Marketing Director Amanda McDonald. “It’s so wonderful to see the kids sitting and learning alongside the professional musicians, and the opportunity to perform on the Clay Center stage can be life-changing!”

Following the side-by-side, guest artists and twin sisters Christina and Michelle Naughton will join the Symphony to perform Mozart’s Double Piano Concerto in E-flat major. The Naughton sisters are graduates of Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music, where they were each awarded the Festorazzi Prize.

Tickets for the Parkersburg concert, which begins at 3 p.m. at Blennerhassett School on May 5, are $22 for adults or $10 for students, and are available at wvsop.org or by calling 304.485.4200.
