West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Announces Candlelight Classics – at the Marshall University Aviation Hangar

CHARLESTON, W.VA. (10/15/2026) – The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) is excited to announce its first ever Candlelight Classics concert to be held on Saturday, November 7 at the Marshall University Bill Noe School of Flight Hangar in Charleston.

The first of its kind in Charleston, the Candlelight Classics concert will take place on Saturday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the hangar of the Bill Noe Flight School. Members of the WVSO alongside Music Director Maurice Cohn will make the hangar its home for the evening performing light classics surrounded by thousands of candles and the audience in the round.

During the roughly one-hour program, the audience will hear classic pieces by Sibelius, Mendelssohn, Elgar, Haydn, and more, while experiencing the orchestra in a unique venue that is sure to create a “can’t miss” experience.

"This is the West Virginia Symphony as you’ve never heard it before! We are so excited to bring classical music out of the concert hall and into new environments with this first-of-its-kind program,” said Music Director Maurice Cohn. “It will be a night of fun and friendly classics, a great event for long-time music lovers and brand new audiences alike!”

The concert is made possible by the generous support of the H.B. Wehrle Foundation. Tickets for the evening concert are $30 and include light refreshments and cash bar from 1010 Bridge for one hour prior to the start of the concert. Tours of the Bill Noe Flight School will also be offered thanks to Marshall University and its Aviation Program ambassadors. Tickets are available online at wvsymphony.org or through the Clay Center Box Office in person or by calling 304-561-3570.
